Development already started. With an investment of 5
Mio. DM we took the first steps and did a so called "Feasibility study"
from 6/2000 to 12/2000. Many concepts were prooven this way.
We chose the RWTH Aaachen [Rheinisch Westfälische Technische Hochschule] to
support us because they have the chip technology we need to achieve our goals
which are:
Producing a very high performance, low
power consumer device chip at costs that are comparable to standard graphic
chips.
This way we can provide the worldwide never seen
triangle of
- Low cost
- Photorealistic 3D graphics
[life like graphics]
- Realtime

Wherever you look around only two points out of the
three are achieved today. You can have supercomputers rendering photorealistic
in realtime [even if I don't know of any that could do it].
You can have standard graphic boards that are cheap and realtime but not
photorealistic and you can have software that is photorealistic and cheap, but
not realtime.
With the AVALON we can have all three together.
I like to hear from you. So please feel free to contact
me ;-)
